Contract Relationships

Contract Relationships

You can map relationships between contracts from the same vendor as parent and child contracts.
  1. Contracts that are dependent on other contracts are called Child Contracts.
  2. The contract on which child contracts depend on is called the Parent Contract.
This relationship mapping allows you to nest multiple contracts within a single contract and ensure that the nested (or child) contracts are completed before the main (or parent) contract expires.
Info
  1. If you manually close an active parent contract, then the associated child contracts will automatically expire.
  2. The parent contract must be an active contract and the expiry date of the child contract cannot exceed the parent contract's expiry date.
  3. You cannot associate parent and child contracts across different customers.

Associate Parent/Child Contracts

Role Required: SDAdmin or technicians with the following permissions:
  1. To associate a parent contract - Users with Add Contracts permissions
  2. To associate a child contract - Users with Edit Contracts permissions

  1. On the header, select the customer for whom you want to associate parent/child contracts.
  2. Select the relevant contract.
  3. On the contract details page, go to Contract Relationship tab or go to the Actions menu.
  4. Select Associate Parent Contract or Associate Child Contract.
  5. The contracts that can be associated are displayed. Select the contracts to associate.
  6. Click Associate.
Info
  1. You can manage the parent-child contract relationship only in the parent contract details page.
  2. A parent contract can have multiple child contracts. However, a child contract can have only one parent contract.
  3. A contract can either be a parent or a child at a given point in time, but not both.
  4. If a parent contract's expiry is edited to a date that is before the child contract's expiry, the child contract will expire when the parent contract expires. However, you can reuse the child contract by editing it.
