Stages and Statuses

Release stage is a directional classification that indicates a significant event or a milestone involving a major deliverable in the release life cycle. The processes involved in the release of any deliverables, including submission, planning, development, testing, deployment, review, and more are built into sequential stages. This incremental building of a release with subsequent stages helps you achieve a streamlined release process.

To create release stages and statuses, go to Setup > Customization > Release Management > Release Stage and Status.

Create Release Stage 

  1. Click New Release Stage.
  2. Enter a name for the release stage. This is a mandatory field.
  3. Describe the release stage details and usage.
  4. Click Save.

A total of 12 active stages can be present at a time.

Create Release Status   

Statuses in each stage of the release management process indicate the progress of the release request within the stage. The application comes with default stages and statuses, which the SDAdmin can rename and reorganize to suit the unique workflow in each organization. Besides, the SDAdmin can configure new stages and statuses per their organization requirements.
  1. Expand a release stage by clicking the stage name.
  2. Click New Release Status.
  3. Enter a name for the release status. This is a mandatory field.
  4. Describe the release status details and usage.
  5. The release stage where the status is applicable is auto-selected and cannot be edited.
  6. Select the release status type.
    1. In Progress - Refers to statuses where the release request is still in progress.
    2. Completion - Refers to statuses where the release request is completed.
    3. Rejection - Refers to statuses where the release request is rejected.
  7. Select the users to notify when a release reaches the status within the release stage.
  8. Provide a subject and description for the notification sent. You can use $ to enter variables.
  9. Click Save.

List View Operations

  1. Edit Release Stage: To modify release stage name or description, click beside a release stage name.
  2. Edit Release Status: Expand the release stage by clicking its name and click beside a status name.
  3. Delete Release Status: Expand the release status by clicking its name and click beside a status name.

Organize Release Stages

Set the display order for release stages in the release details page. Submission, Planning, and Closure stages cannot be sorted from their default order.
  1. Click Organize on the toolbar.
  2. Select a release stages and use the and icons to decide the sort order.
  3. Click Save.
