Asset Groups
Organize assets by grouping them manually or based on certain asset properties.
Role Required: SDAdmin, SDSiteAdmin
Use case: Zylker is planning to update a patch on their assets. Using asset groups, they can pinpoint assets with 500GB RAM that need a software update before rolling out the patch update.
Types of asset groups in ServiceDesk Plus MSP Cloud:
- Static Group: Add specific assets to the group manually.
- Dynamic Group: Assets matching certain criteria are added to the group automatically.
Create Asset Group
- Go to Assets and click
next to Groups on the left pane.
- Alternatively, you can go to Quick Actions
> Assets > New Group.
- Enter a unique group name. This is mandatory.
- Describe the group.
- Select the group type - static or dynamic. Define asset criteria for dynamic groups.
- Click Save.
Add Assets to Groups
Static Group
- Click Add Assets To Group.
- Select the assets to add into the static group.
- Use the filter to view and select assets or components. You can also filter the assets based on asset state.
- Click Add. Click Add More to add assets from the next indexes.
Alternatively, you can add assets to a static group from the assets list view.
Dynamic Group
Assets matching certain criteria will be added to the group automatically.
Define the asset criteria using the relevant drop-down menus.
- To define multiple criteria, click the plus icon
and select one of the logical operators.
- AND – Only assets that satisfy all criteria will be added to the group.
- OR - Assets will be added to the group if any one of the criteria is satisfied.
Edit/Delete Groups
To edit or delete groups,
- Go to Assets > All Groups.
- Click the edit icon

across the required asset group.

- Navigate to the group.
