Virtual Hosts and Virtual Machines

Virtual Hosts and Virtual Machines

Virtual Hosts and Virtual Machines

Virtual hosts and virtual machines perform the same functions as physical workstations or servers, but they are hosted and managed as virtual systems.
ServiceDesk Plus MSP Cloud scans VMware's ESX and ESXi and Hyper-V hosts and fetches the virtual machines (VMs) created in the hosts. Besides scanning, you can import and manually add hosts and VMs. Scanning VMs helps you track the relationship between hosts and associated virtual machines and manage them without manual intervention.

Add Virtual Hosts and VMs  via Scan

ServiceDesk Plus MSP Cloud supports all types of scanning for Hyper-V hosts, but only Network scan and Asset scan for VMWare's ESX and ESXi.
Like workstations, virtual host details such as computer system, operating system, memory, and processor are fetched during the scan. Additionally, associated VM details, such as name, memory reservation, memory limit, memory shares, CPU shares level, CPU limit, and CPU reservation, are also fetched.
Imported or scanned virtual hosts are added under Assets > IT > Computers > Virtual Hosts. VMs created in the scanned virtual hosts are added under Assets > IT > Computers > Virtual Machines.

The relationship between a VM and its host are recorded after the scan.
