Credentials Library stores different scan credentials used for monitoring and scanning assets such as workstations, servers, printers, etc. This centralizes all credentials in one place and links them to networks and assets.
Apart from serving as a repository for storing scan credentials, this library also allows technicians to configure new scan credentials.
You can access the credentials library under Setup > Probes & Discovery > Credential Library.

Add New Credential
Role Required: SDAdmin, AssetConfig
To add a new credential to the credential library,
- Go to Setup > Probes & Discovery > Credential Library.
- Select the customer you want to add a credential for from the filter in the header.
- Click New Credential. The New Credential pop-up will appear.
- Select Credential Type: Windows/WMI/SQL Server, SSH, SNMP V3, SNMP V1/V2, VMware.
- Provide a name and description for the credential
- Enter the Username and Password of the target workstation.
- For Windows credentials, the username has to be given in the following format: DomainName\administrator.
- For SSH credentials, specify Timeout in minutes. The Port Number is set to 22 by default.
- For SNMP V1/V2 credentials specify the following:
- SNMP Read Community: Enter the password for the credential.
- SNMP Port: Set at 161 by default.
- Timeout: Specify the timeout period for terminating the connection.
- For SNMP V3 credentials,
- Context Name: Specify the context name for the credentials.
- Authentication Protocol/Authentication Password: Select the authentication protocol as MD5 or SHA and provide the authentication password.
- Encryption Protocol/Encryption Password: Select DES, AES-128, or AES-256 as the encryption protocol and provide the encryption password.
- SNMP Port: Enter the SNMP port. It is set at 161 by default.
- Timeout: Specify the timeout period for terminating the connection
- For VMware credentials, specify the following:
- Username/Password: Enter the username and password of the virtual host(s).
- Port: Specify the port number.
- Timeout: Specify the timeout period for terminating the connection
You can edit an existing credential by clicking the edit icon

against it in the credentials list view. The credential type and the authentication/encryption protocol cannot be edited.

The stored password will be in encrypted format.

You can add multiple credentials to a network under Setup > Probes & Discovery > Network Scan.
Changing Credentials for Assets
Role Required: SDAdmin, AssetConfig
To change the credential for an asset,
- Go to the Assets module.
- You can filter assets based on all customers or a specific customer using the customer filter in the header.
- On the left pane, go to Assets > IT > Computers and open the workstation details page.
- Click Actions > Update Credentials.
- Select the probe in the Probe Name field. This option will appear only if the probe is not associated with any network
- Choose the Device Type and Credential.
- Click Save.

Remote Control
Role Required: SDAdmin, SDRemoteControl
If a probe/credential is not linked to the workstation, you can choose the probe name and credentials while selecting the remote control of the workstation.
To choose remote control, click Action > Remote Control on the workstation details page.

When a password of a target workstation expires, the SDAdmin can change it in the credential library instead of changing it in all networks and assets it is connected to.
