Software Manufacturers 

Create and manage information about software manufacturers of all IT assets.
Idea
Use case: Merge multiple or slightly different versions of the same manufacturer, such as Microsoft Corp., Microsoft Corporation, MICROSOFT, to avoid redundant entries in the database during asset scan. 
When assets are scanned, software manufacturers will be populated here automatically. However, you can create software manufacturers manually.  
ServiceDesk Plus MSP Cloud offers default software manufacturer entries such as Adobe Systems, Inc., Microsoft Corporation, Symantec Corporation, and Others.

Create a Software Manufacturer 

To create software manufacturers manually,
  1. Go to Setup > Customization > Asset Management > Software Manufacturers.
  2. Click New Manufacturer.
  3. In the New Manufacturer pop-up, enter the software manufacturer name, display name, and description. Name is mandatory.
  4. Click Save.

Reconcile Software Manufacturers 

Merge more than two redundant entries under a single manufacturer.
  1. Select the redundant software manufacturers from the list using checkboxes.
  2. Click Reconcile on the toolbar.
  3. In the Reconcile Manufacturers pop-up, choose the parent manufacturer from the drop-down and click Reconcile to merge.
 


Info
All associated software, licenses, license types, and license agreements will be moved to the parent manufacturer. 
You cannot merge default software manufacturers as a child with any software manufacturer. Similarly, you cannot merge default manufacturers with each other.

Unmerge Software Manufacturers 

Unmerge all or specific manufacturers from the parent manufacturer.
  1. Expand the required parent manufacturer using .
  2. From the subtable, select the manufacturers using checkboxes and click Unmerge.
 

Alert
 Unmerging child manufacturers will not restore associated software, licenses, license types, and license agreements.
 

Edit/Delete Software Manufacturers 

On the Software Manufacturers list view,
  1. Click the gear icon beside the required software manufacturer and click Edit or Delete.

  1. To bulk delete, select the required manufacturers using the checkbox beside them and click Delete on the toolbar.


Warning
You cannot delete default software manufacturers.  
Deleted software manufacturers cannot be retrieved.

  

Other Actions 

Search: Use the Search icon on the top right to search for specific software manufacturers within the list.
Sort: Use the Table Settings icon on the top right to set the number of records to be displayed per page and sort records by Name, Display Name, Description, and Created By. Click Column Chooser to add more columns to the list view.
