The Conflict Detection setting is customer-specific.
Use case 1: Schedule maintenance windows for specific change deployments
Scenario:
Without disrupting peak business hours, Zylker wants to upgrade their communication channels in June every year. This upgrade will impact internet services and the corporate website.
Prerequisite:
- Create a change request for the upgrade.
- Create service categories under Setup > Template & Forms > Service Category.
Action
- Configure an yearly maintenance window with off-peak hours for changes affecting specific services.
- Create a maintenance window for Zylker, specifying the services affected by the upgrade.
- Define change criteria for the maintenance window, if any.
- Schedule the maintenance window. This maintenance window will apply to all Zylker's changes affecting the specified services.

| From and To: Specify your business' off-peak hours.
Frequency: Yearly ; Enable Advanced > Select June. You can choose a specific day of the month.

Post Action:
- During the maintenance window, an alert will be displayed on all changes under that customer affecting the internet services and corporate website.
- If maintenance window criteria are configured, and the change you create matches those criteria, a conflict alert will be displayed while saving the form.
- To view the list of maintenance windows that conflict with a change schedule, go to the Planning stage > Schedule tab in the change details page.
- To reschedule the release/downtime within the maintenance time slot, use the Scheduler button on the change details page.
Use case 2: Freeze change creation on weekends for a specific site
Scenario:
Restrict minor change deployments on weekends for specific sites of Zylker.
Prerequisite:
Make sure that all sites of the customer are added under Setup > Instance Configurations > Sites.
Action:
- Configure a freeze window to restrict change creation during that window for Zylker's specific sites.
- Create a freeze window.
- Define change criteria for the freeze window.
- Schedule the freeze window.

Post Action:
- If a change you create matches the freeze window criteria, a conflict alert will be displayed while saving the form.
- To create a new change during a freeze window, users can contact the Zylker's Change Manager.
