Change Workflow

Change workflow defines how a change request is processed within an organization. Technicians can view the complete execution path of the workflow associated with the change request.
 
Role Required: SDAdmin, SDChangeManager, Users with View permission to the change
 
Click the Workflow button on the change details page or the workflow icon on the list/template view to access the workflow. The color of the workflow icon will vary depending on its status.

 Indicates the change workflow is in progress. 
 Indicates the change workflow is completed.
 Indicates that no change workflow is associated.
 Indicates that the change workflow has failed or stopped temporarily.
 Indicates that the change workflow is violated.
 
The various nodes and connectors configured in the workflow are listed in a read-only view format. Learn how to configure a workflow.
 
On the workflow execution page, the workflow name is displayed on the page header along with an icon indicating the workflow execution status. The title of the associated change request, the change ID, the current stage and status, and the associated customer are also displayed in the header.
 

Workflow Execution Graph 

The canvas where the workflow nodes and connectors are displayed is called the Workflow Execution Graph.
  1. The current stage/status, node, and connector in execution are highlighted.
  2. The traversed path of the workflow is highlighted with a green line.
  3. Virtual connectors highlight pathways that are not configured in the workflow but are still executed if the change follows the path.
  4. Connectors that failed to execute are highlighted in red color.
  5. For pre-approved changes, the approval node created for the CAB Evaluation stage is appended as Approval - Pre Approved in the node title.
 

 
Technicians can perform the following actions on the workflow execution graph:
  1. Drag a node or connector to reposition them. You can also add vertexes if needed. The repositioned view will not be reflected in the workflow editor or for other users.

  1. Use the icon to locate the current node in execution.
  2. SDChangeManagers and users with Edit Changes permission can hover over a node and click the icon to view the node details.

  1. Hover over the executed connectors to view:
    1. Comments about the transition.
    2. User who initiated the transition.
    3. Time spent by the change request in the transition.
    4. Time spent waiting for the next transition (shown only for the current transition).

  1. Hover over a connector to view the source and target nodes.
  2. Click and drag anywhere on the page to pan the graph on the screen.
  3. Use the zoom handles  to view the graph in a large/small-scaled view. The zoomed view can be reset anytime using .
 

Workflow Header

Technicians can perform the following actions from the workflow execution header.

  1. Use the icon to copy the URL of the workflow. You can create URL widgets for the workflow execution graph.
  2. Click the icon to view a log of all transitions performed on the workflow.
    1. Error logs will be displayed in red.
    2. Virtual and discarded execution logs will be styled differently.
  3. Click the icon on the header to export the workflow as a PDF document.
